The Ugly Face of Urban Elitism

Published by scarecrow at 12:33 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

The veiled animosity urban people have towards rural Americans has been pushed aside, exposing the ugly face of urban elitism. In what can only be viewed as penetrating hubris, leftwing blogs on Technorati.com are erupting with sentiments like “Rural America = Stupid America.” While rural Americans have always been subjected demeaning labels such as red necks, hillbillies, bumpkins and so forth, this is the first time in our history that urban disdain of rural people has been so open and the rhetoric so hostile.

As the urban elitists become more open in their disdain of rural Americans, their policies become oppressive and eventually destructive to the overall rural economy. Urban leftwing ideologues are responsible for some of the most disastrous rural policies in modern history. These agenda-driven academics are responsible for the following rural policies, all of which border on the ridiculous: Smart Growth (keep telling yourselves that), ethanol subsidies (how’s that working out?), the National Animal Identification System (very Orwellian), the Kelo ruling and the 1973 Endangered Species Act to name a few. All of these programs and initiatives are/were abject failures. And we’re the stupid ones?

Rural Americans didn’t need to spend billions of tax-payer dollars to understand that these, like most agriculture policies crafted by urban elitists, were doomed to fail. They looked good on paper, but were too academic to be carried out in the real world.

Far from being stupid, rural Americans are the real free-thinkers. Like Alan Keyes told me, we are exposed to much less media than our urban counterparts. It’s harder for the oligarchy to control us, making it necessary to pass laws which make criminals out of us.

Like most rural Americans, I refuse to blindly follow the writhing masses; I refuse to be labeled as backwards. I’m proud of my rural heritage.

So, are rural people stupid? Take our poll and see the results immediately.
